I STRONGLY disagree with the joining of Evangel University, Central Bible College and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.  First of all why are we leaving out the 4th Springfield A/G college...Global University...where are they?  2nd...why not put all the other schools in such as...SMS, OTC, BBC, Drury, Springfield College, Springfield Beauty School, etc.  3rd...why aren't all parts of the schools names combined such as where is the Evangel, Seminary, etc...if you have any suggestions for the new school's name, please comment.  That's all for now...but there will be more to come later.

Sections of Global aren't accredited (aka: Berean School of Bible), which is why they can't be included.  So yeah, what's up with wanting to make one giant school???  Another reason to hike up tuition?

Props to you for knowing what's going on with the CBC/Evangel/AGTS thing.  :)

Who the hell is this and what are you talking about. First, the joining Evangel and CBC has always been rumor that could maybe one day be realized. Secondly, Global is a piss poor "school". Finally, if AGTS where affiliated with the two it would still be recognized as separate, i.e. Princeton Theological Seminary, Candler School of Theology, Talbot and so on...

Some of the higher ups want it to happen over at the HQ.. Bunch of CRAP if you ask me....

Why would we want to join that crappy school (EVANGEL) which costs more.....

Still has to go before a vote, at the Presbytr, and then the General Council has to vote, well WHAT SCHOOL  DO YOU THINK THE Pastor's in the AG COME FROM?????

Hopefully this junk is shot down...

Well from what i've heard, my statistics teacher states that Global is joining in with the merger!  They want to have Berean as part of the big school idea and they just want to move the seminary to another location!  If this is gonna happen like they say it is it won't be for at least another four years and MOST of us now will be out!  I think the students should stand up and say something!  Nobody wants to do this but the faculty and administration!  Which nobody knows why because this just means more faculty will be fired!  Their just in it for the money!  I agree with the fact that CUAG is a horrible name for this school i mean are they changing mascots too!  Things just don't need to change!  Most of this I know because my uncle is A major part of the General Council no names but who says this things actually gonna pull through this time?

I think it is a bad idea, and if they wanted to go about it in a better way they would have asked the people it effects most what they thought first, aka the faculty and students.  The school have different missions.  Evangel is a liberal art university, CBC is a bible college.  They each have unique purposes and should remain seperate.

Here's the deal on the whole thing.

The board of admin are meeting this week to discuss the this topic. Let me make something clear about this though. They are not talking about the merger of the schools only the maintenance/custodal department. They think that if this is done they will save money through outsourcing. Global has backed out of this that is why they are not included. As far as i know, our board isn't too much in favor of it. I for one, do not like the idea of them outsourcing because that means many students, including me, will not be able to work on maintenance/ custodial department next fall. That means many students are not able to work on campus. So that is what is going on with this whole thing.

i agree that the name CUAG does suck...i would much rather keep the name Evangel University. However, i don't think that the merger of the two schools is that bad of an idea. i mean think about it...your getting the same education. from the same institution just a larger one. and for some of you less fortunate ones..the name will change. Even the administration doesn't like the name CUAG. and you CBC students think of the facilities that you would be gaining. that is really all i have to say on the subject until i know more.

Ok, with the little info I have on the subject, I think it is a bad idea.

CBC is a ministry school, and has been for over 80 years. A lot of what makes CBC so great is the enviroment, partly because pretty much everyone here is here because they plan on going into full time ministry.

That is not Evangel.

Evangel is a great Christian liberal arts school.

CBC is a great ministry school. It is distinct. It is school to train Pentecostal leaders. To train ministers and missionaries. Thats what it is and that is what it should remain.

Yes, they'll change the mascots. Yeah, students may not get to keeps jobs. Teachers might get more money. Each school has it's own purpose...BLAH BLAH BLAH. I think we're overlooking the most important issue here. Basketball. This is all an underground conspiracy by the Big Dogs in the Big Blue Vatican (now slightly gray) to get Coach Hanson into D1 ball so he can scholarship players and take the first ever Pentecostal team to the National Championship and win big. I've already got tickets for the 2010 Final Four to watch Hanson take out KU.

I am completely opposed to this merger. I would have no problem with Evangel and AGTS merging, but CBC has a different purpose and vision - for the training of pastors and missionaries. The 80 year history of CBC with many graduates serving the Church as pastors, evangelists, missionaries and leaders speaks of the value and commitment to that purpose. Under this proposal, CBC would cease to exist - and not in name only. The specialized training, the vision, the purpose, and the unique atmosphere of CBC would be replaced by a generic educational model.

It is almost unbelievable that, at the same time the A/G faces a shortage of men to fill its pulpits, there has been a movement away from the Bible College model which has served them so well at home and abroad.  That is not to say that CBC should be stuck in out-dated ideas or mentality - but don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Methods should be updated - but the vision should remain. CBC is one of the last of the Bible colleges and should not be absorbed into CUAG.

CBC has just been accredited and is moving aggressively into the 21st century and beyond while retaining its original purpose and vision. I, for one, would rejoice if the same could be said about everything in the A/G.

My belief is that if this is such a good idea that the study and the report would have been completed in openess and in the light of day.  Here is what the bible says,

John 3:19, 20 and 21

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [3] 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

But we do have a promis from God

Luke 12: 1, 2 and 3

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. 3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Thank you for this and other web sites where we can Proclaim this issue from the housetops.
